So questioning Mexicans as to whether they are here legally isn't racial profiling, it's smart law enforcement.
2900 illegal immigrants (Mexicans) with criminal records were arrested recently in a nationwide sweep by ICE. Read more...
The United States has expelled 350,000 illegal immigrants a year on average over the past three years -- a record high -- and about half of them had criminal records. - That's 175,000 illegal immigrants (Mexicans) who have committed crimes other than illegally entering the United States.
Considering also that probably 99% of the estimated 12 million illegals currently residing in the U.S. are Hispanic (from Mexico), it makes sense that profiling would be a useful tool for identifying people who don't belong here. Keeping that in mind, it's interesting to note that Mexico is not a race and neither is Hispanic.
I am a natural born U.S. citizen, yet if a law enforcement officer asks for my ID I must produce it. Why should those who are in this country illegally receive special treatment?
