I would remind you that extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice! And let me remind you also that moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue. -- Barry Goldwater

Happy Birthday! to the Crocker Post

The Crocker Post is 1 today!

Just a little bio which I almost never do:
In late October 2009 I survived a heart attack. An event which changed my life and was a catalyst for the change in my world view. I received topnotch American health care at a cutting edge hospital which saved my life. Five months later, as Obamacare was being passed against the wishes of most Americans, I purchased crockerpost.com and started blogging. I'd had enough. Enough of plotting, anti-American, communist liberals who had been trying to destroy my country since, in my lifetime, the 1960's. I know this about them because I used to be one. They were my friends and fellow conspirators. Looking back, I realize now that I never really fit in but was just looking to belong to something, and what better group to belong to in Vermont, where I had moved to from Boston in 1980, than the far left "progressives" led by Bernie Sanders.

Crocker Post trivia, although maybe not so trivial: My father and grandfather were both Episcopalian ministers.

Wow Vermont the most liberal.....nope Oregon owns that label...I have lived in Vermont all of my life (so far) and I believe most Vermonters still look at both sides of a story before they make a decision...I find your opinions to be so far to the right it makes my head spin... anyone else's opinion, even backed up with fact is still considered to be extremely liberal by you....I personally would probably be called a liberal by you ....but over the years many Republicans have earned my vote because of their ability to find common ground with the regular people of this state... I voted for Jim Jeffords in every year he ran...and helped put Pat Leahy(dem) because he works for all of us .. in every year...And Dick Snelling I think was one of our best Governors and I believe our current government should do just what he did for one or two years to help our state out of financial trouble and taxed at a higher rate our wealthier taxpayers for a short period fo time. Its what you do..when times are hard people who can do....

Now Bernie Sanders...got to love him..and Vermont..Historically Vermont has always been the awkward cousin...and we will never march to the correct beat..! But that is why I love our state! Bernie may be that "socialist: from Vermont but he has managed to but many ideas and feelings out there in the forefront, works for the little guy and so truly riles up the Conservative side!! I love it!
Do no not underestimate his abillity to get things done

Jim Jeffords...long time republican representive for the great state of Vermont left the republican party because the republican party has gotten out of control...so far to the right that he just needed to leave I say go Jim go!!!!!!!!!!!

Health care.... Healthcare in this country is a joke!!! I stopped paying for my families Blue Cross Blue Shield policy when I was paying more for my health care premium than my house payment!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOu can not tell me this is right!! I dropped my insurance when my family premium went to 1200 a month!! Self insured, no company premiums or benefits! It was costing me $13,000 a year in premiums and another 2500 in up front cost before anything would pay. I said no more.. dropped the plan and now I just set up a payment plan for whatever I have done You people on the " conservative side need to spend some time in the real world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's a fact that Vermont is the most liberal state: Mississippi Most Conservative State, Vermont Most Liberal: Gallup http://www.npr.org/blogs/itsallpolitics/2011/02/25/134054868/mississippi-most-conservative-state-vermont-most-liberal
Also there are more Progressives in the tiny Vermont legislature than in any other state's including California.
Vermont went 67% for Obama. We have two of the most liberal Senators in the U.S. Senate plus Democrat Peter Welch in the House.
